De-Compression Software

Stuffit Expander 3.5.2 205 K

Almost every file you will come across on the Internet will be compressed in some way or another. This reduces the size of the file so that they can be transmitted much faster. However, there are many different type of compression utilities out there: the most common file formats are, .sit (Stuffit) .cpt (CompactPro) .sea (self-extracting archive) .zip (Zip) .hqx (BinHex) and .uu (UUEncoded). To use these files after you download them you need a "decompression utility". That's what Stuffit Expander is, it will decompress any of the possible compression formats that you may encounter.

In this case, Stuffit Expander has been compressed with BinHex compression as have all the other files on this page. You will either need a previous version of Stuffit Expander to unstuff this, or BinHex 4. These should be available from your service provider or from a local Bulletin Board.
